Entry Description

I-70 Weekend Work in Wayne County

RICHMOND – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to continue pavement repairs on Interstate 70 near Richmond this weekend.

Starting Friday at 9:00 p.m., Milestone Contractors, INDOT contractor for a $2.1 million project, plans to close the right lane of westbound I-70 near U.S. 35/Williamsburg Pike (Exit 149) for concrete patching. Crews plan to complete the work and reopen the lane before 6:00 a.m. on Monday. All ramps at Exit 149 are expected to remain open.

Beginning Saturday at 4:00 a.m., Hunt Paving, INDOT contractor for a $1.6 million project, plans lane restrictions on eastbound and westbound I-70 between U.S. 35/Williamsburg Pike (Exit 149) and the Ohio state line (mile marker 156). Crews will be saw-cutting contraction joints in concrete patches throughout the area. One lane at a time will be restricted while the work takes place. The location and direction of the restricted lane will vary throughout the day. Restrictions are scheduled to end by Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

Tonight at 8 p.m., Hunt crews will restrict the right lane of eastbound I-70 from U.S. 27/Chester Boulevard (Exit 151) to approximately mile marker 154 to make pavement repairs. Work will be complete by 6 a.m. Thursday.

Always practice safe driving habits in work zones. Follow speed limits, maintain safe distances from other vehicles and avoid all distractions—including cell phones. The Indiana Work Zone Safety Law sets steep penalties for driving infractions within highway work zones. INDOT partners with the Indiana State Police to provide increased patrols and promote public safety in work zones.

Motorists, residents and businesses are encouraged to visit and subscribe to receive INDOT news and information by email using the GovDelivery red envelope icon.
