Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (June 18, 2013) — Indiana Senate President Pro Tem David Long (R-Fort Wayne) has appointed State Sen. Phil Boots (R-Crawfordsville) to serve as chair of the Pension Management Oversight Commission and as a member of the Unemployment Insurance Oversight Committee for 2013.

“These study committees provide the legwork for much of the legislation that gets heard by the General Assembly during session,” Boots said. “I urge members of the community to stay involved, follow the issues and offer your thoughts.”

Each summer and fall — when Indiana’s part-time legislature is not in session — lawmakers are assigned to interim study committees that meet to review the state’s top issues, as identified by the General Assembly during the prior legislative session.

Study committee topics are assigned by the Legislative Council, comprised of 16 voting members — eight from the House of Representatives and eight from the Senate.
