US 231 Project will close lanes on US 52 Monday

Motorists need to be aware of changes in traffic patterns

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the US 231 project will close the passing lane (left lane) in both directions on US 52 between Klondike Road and Hadley Lane beginning on or after Monday, June 10.  The closure is for the contractor to install center curb.  Once the center curb is installed the access to County Road 250 West and McCormick Road will be a right-in and right-out only.  The traffic signal at this intersection will be turned off and stop signs will be installed on these two county roads at US 52.  The lane closures are expected to last approximately one week.

This $45.6 million Major Moves project will relocate US 231.  The US 231 Bypass will begin just north of the Wabash River and continue east of the Purdue University Airport, then northwest to State Road 26 near its intersection with Newman Road.  The bypass will connect with US 52 just west of McCormick Road.  Construction began in the spring of last year.  The 5.3 miles of US 231 is scheduled to be open to traffic by the end of September of this year.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.  For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit or .
