[OUCC] Fox Chase Farms sewer rate case: Consumer comments invited
Start Date: 4/25/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 4/25/2014End Time: Midnight
Entry Description

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) is inviting written comments on 1st American Management Co., Inc’s. request for a sewer rate increase. 1st American Management Co. is the court-appointed receiver for MTA, LLC, doing business as Centurian Utilities. It provides wastewater disposal service to 88 homes in the Fox Chase Farms subdivision near Valparaiso and is seeking implementation of the rate increase on an emergency basis.

The OUCC, the state agency representing consumer interests in cases before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), is reviewing the utility’s request and has not yet taken a position in this case. The OUCC anticipates completing its review and filing testimony with the Commission on a future date to be determined.

Current sewer rates for Fox Chase Farms were approved in 1995. The company’s request would increase its monthly residential sewer bill from $65.00 to $95.00 on an emergency basis. In its petition before the IURC, the company states that several other entities have submitted proposals to acquire and operate the utility. However, 1st American Management Co. says immediate infrastructure improvements are necessary in the meantime due to numerous problems discovered with the utility’s operating system.

More information on this case, including the utility’s testimony, is available online at www.in.gov/oucc/2797.htm.

Consumers who wish to submit written comments in this case may do so via the OUCC’s Website at www.in.gov/oucc/2361.htm, or by mail, email or fax:
