Arts Commission announces Creating Vibrant Communities through the Arts colloquium

(Indianapolis, Indiana)The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that early-bird registration is now open for a two-day colloquium on community innovation and growth for arts organizations and community partners in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

The IAC, in partnership with Ball State University’s Building Better Communities program and with the support of the Ohio Arts Council and the Kentucky Arts Council, will present the tri-state colloquium Creating Vibrant Communities through the Arts, June 6 - 7, 2013 on the campus of Hanover College, Hanover, Indiana.

The colloquium will feature sessions with regionally and nationally recognized presenters exploring best practices and practical planning tools for cultural districts, community engagement, arts business incubators, rural and urban revitalization, and community planning.

Space is limited, so early registration is highly recommended.

Early Bird registration fee is $75 per person or $175 per team of three. Regular registration (beginning April 20) will be $90 per person and $200 per team of three. Please visit: http://www.in.gov/arts/2659.htm for more information about the colloquium, scheduled presenters, and links to register. These registration rates do not include the Pre-Program Workshop.

“Any community considering the development of a Cultural District, or looking to revitalize their community through the arts will benefit from attending this colloquium,” said IAC Executive Director Lewis C. Ricci. “Communities of all sizes can realize dynamic change through incorporating the arts into their community development initiatives.  This colloquium is a great opportunity for civic and business leaders, educators, arts organizations, and elected officials to learn from recognized leaders in the field, and to take initial, practical planning steps to advance their own arts economies.”

Creating Vibrant Communities through the Arts is made possible by: The Indiana Arts Commission, Ball State University’s Building Better Communities, the Ohio Arts Council, the Kentucky Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Hanover College, the host for the colloquium, also serves as one of the Indiana Arts Commission’s regional arts partners.

The Indiana Arts Commission is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, every day, for everyone in Indiana.
