End Date: 4/10/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

New Castle – Troopers from the Pendleton District Meth Squad went to a home located at 2309 Cherrywood last night around 6 p.m. as a result of an ongoing meth investigation. A search warrant was served on the residence and as a result, a meth lab was found.

Arrested was John R. McCarty age 48, charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine within 1000’ of a School, Class “A” Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, Class “D” Felony; Possession of the Precursors used to Manufacture Meth, Class “D” Felony; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class “D” Felony and Illegal Storage of Anhydrous Ammonia, Class “A” Misdemeanor.

McCarty was lodged at the Henry County Jail, and further charges are pending as a result of the ongoing investigation. Troopers were assisted by the Henry County Prosecutor’s Office, the Henry County Drug Task Force and the Shirley Police Department.

We would like to remind farmers that meth cooks are out roaming county roads this time of year looking to steal Anhydrous Ammonia from tanks left unattended in fields. Please make sure your anhydrous tanks are not left unattended in remote areas. Try to remove the tanks from fields at the end of the day and make sure locks are installed on the valves.

Often times Meth Labs are found as a result of an anonymous tip from a neighbor or friend. Anyone with information about illegal drug use may call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous. The Indiana Meth Investigation System or IMIS, can also take tips on meth labs. Just go to and click on the “Report Suspected Meth Activity” Link.
