[ISP] Failure to Stop Lands Semi-Truck Driver in Jail

Indianapolis, IN- A semi-truck driver’s failure to stop for Indiana State Troopers yesterday afternoon ended with a flat trailer tire and the driver in jail.

Yesterday evening, April 9th, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Trooper Daniel Criswell, of the Indianapolis District, was patrolling I-70 EB at the 76 mm in an unmarked Dodge pickup. While passing a 2013 Freightliner with a utility trailer, Trooper Criswell reported that the tractor-trailer swerved into his lane nearly striking his truck. Trooper Criswell activated his emergency lights and siren however the semi continued east swerving and traveling 30 to 40 mph.

Trooper Derek Miller deployed stop sticks near the 79 mm. One of the trailer tires deflated and the truck stopped at the 80.1 mm.

The driver, James Michael Foster, 52, of Mebane, North Carolina, was found to be under the influence of alcoholic beverages and “Spice” according to investigating troopers.

Foster was transported to the Marion County Processing Center and incarcerated on the charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Class A Misdemeanor and Resisting Law Enforcement with a Motor Vehicle, Class D Felony.

No one was injured during the incident and the load of cheese Foster was hauling was not compromised.
