Entry Description
STATEHOUSE — State Representative Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) was selected by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) to take part in their year-long Early Learning Fellows Program. She was one of only 25 state legislators and staff nationwide that were chosen for this fellowship.

“It is truly humbling to be selected to take part in this fellowship program,” said Rep. Crouch. “This is a tremendous opportunity to learn about new early childhood policies and early learning research.”

The Early Learning Fellows Program chooses experienced or emerging leaders in the areas of early childhood and early learning. Their goal is promote the exchange of ideas and solutions related to early learning, the early achievement gap and numerous other issues. Rep. Crouch will learn practical information that she can use to benefit Indiana.

“As Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, I work very closely with Chairman Brown and the committee to craft the state budget. With nearly two-thirds of all state dollars going to education, we are dedicated to providing the best possible start for Hoosier students and keeping them on a successful path throughout their studies,” said Rep. Crouch.

The fellowship is provided at no cost to the participants or to taxpayers. All expenses are paid for by a grant from the Birth to Five Policy Alliance, an early education advocacy group.

“The improvements seen in Indiana’s education system are a success story,” said Rep. Crouch. “I look forward to sharing that story with other legislators from across the country, as well as gaining from their insight.”
