[ISP] Three Arrested at Anderson Meth Lab

Entry Description

Anderson – Today members of the Pendleton District Meth Squad accompanied Madison County Probation to a home at 2610 Morton St. in Anderson for a probation home visit. The visit was part of an ongoing meth investigation that began in January of this year.

When officers entered the home they found a meth lab and items used in the making of meth. Arrested was Timothy Woolums, age 54, and charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine within 1000’ of a School or Park, Class “A” Felony and Neglect of a Dependent, Class “C” Felony.

Woolums was also charged with Possession of the Precursors used in the Manufacture of Methamphetamine, Class “D” Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, Class “D” Felony; Possession of Marijuana, Class “D” Felony and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class “D” Felony.

Also arrested at the home was Tanisha Smith, age 22 of Anderson, for Neglect of a Dependent, Class “D” Felony and Visiting a Common Nuisance, Class “A” Misdemeanor.

The third person arrested at the home was Melinda Simms-Byers, age 23 of Anderson, charged with Visiting a Common Nuisance, Class “A” Misdemeanor. A four year old child was also removed from the home and turned over to Madison County Department of Child Services.

The investigation is ongoing with further charges possible. The Meth Squad has been assisted in this investigation by Madison County Probation, the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Madison County Drug Task Force and Anderson Police Department.

As a result of this investigation that began in January, Pendleton Meth Squad Troopers have arrested 12 people in Anderson on 42 charges and dismantled five different meth lab operations. Often times meth labs are found as a result of an anonymous tip from a neighbor or friend.
