Monon resident receives high-status WorkOne Achievement Award

STATEHOUSE – State Representative Don Lehe (R-Brookston) congratulates Jonathan Redmon from Monon for receiving a WorkOne Achievement Award. In a ceremony today, 12 Hoosier companies and 12 individuals were recognized for their commitment to job creation as well as utilizing WorkOne’s available resources for exceptional career development and personal advancement.

Redmon began participating in WorkOne programs as a senior in high school and graduated as Valedictorian of his class later that year. He continued utilizing WorkOne programs after graduation, earning a $1,000 scholarship by completing several workshops to help him transition from high school to college. Redmon is currently in his second semester at Ivy Tech Community College and plans to become a library technical assistant.

“Jonathan sets a fine example for Hoosiers to follow,” said Rep. Lehe. “Taking advantage of the opportunities available from WorkOne shows his initiative as well as his determination to make the most of himself. I hope others follow his lead.”

WorkOne is the heart of workforce development and is committed to connecting Hoosiers with available positions, as well as providing access to career training opportunities through one of their 11 regional offices. WorkOne hosts annual career fairs and events to employ Hoosiers.

One of those events is the WorkOne Achievement Award ceremony, which honored Redmon and 11 other individuals for their dedication to improving their lives through WorkOne education, training and employment services. Twelve employers were also honored for their faithful job creation and personal advancement opportunities for Hoosiers.

“WorkOne is an invaluable state resource,” Rep. Lehe said. “Through their tireless efforts and outstanding training programs, many Hoosiers from across the state have acquired the necessary skills to successfully enter the job market with confidence.”

The awards were presented by Department of Workforce Development Commissioner Scott B. Sanders at the Indiana Statehouse.
