[s17] Sen. Banks Welcomes Local Students to Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (April 12, 2013) – State Sen. Jim Banks (R-Columbia City) recently welcomed the following students to the Statehouse to serve as Senate pages:

  • Braden Baker, from Columbia City, attends Indian Springs Middle School.
  • Keith Bohde, from Churubusco, attends Churubusco High School.
  • Tessa Cochran, from Columbia City, attends Eagle Tech Academy.
  • Janessa Dodson, from Huntington, attends Huntington Catholic School.
  • Breyanna Gastineau, from Columbia City, attends Eagle Tech Academy.
  • Kaylea Jordan, a homeschool student from Columbia City.
  • Anna Kneller, from Columbia City, attends Indian Springs Middle School.
  • Kyle Knutson, from Larwill, attends Whitko Middle School.
  • Averi Litherland, from Columbia City, attends Columbia City High School.
  • Zach Lippe, from Huntington, attends Riverview Middle School.
  • Samuel Poling, from Huntington, attends Riverview Middle School.
  • James Romano, from Columbia City, attends Faith Christian Academy.
  • Blake Sailors, from Huntington, attends Huntington North High School.
  • Aaron Speakman, a homeschool student from Columbia City.
  • Michael Speakman, a homeschool student from Columbia City.
  • Craig Vance, from Columbia City, attends Indian Springs Middle School.
  • Ryan Vance, from Columbia City, attends Indian Springs Middle School.
  • Corinne Zay, from Huntington, attends Bishop Luers High School.
  • Rees Zay, from Huntington, attends Huntington Catholic School.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse, touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.

“The page program gives students a unique opportunity to experience the legislative process first-hand,” Banks said. “I am thankful for all the participating pages this year, and I’m looking forward to having more students visit the Statehouse in the future.”
