[SOS] Washington state man sentenced for securities fraud in Pulaski County
Start Date: 3/24/2016Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 3/24/2016
Entry Description

INDIANAPOLIS (March 24, 2016) — Joshua Ader of Seattle, Washington was sentenced today after pleading guilty to securities fraud, acting as an unregistered broker-dealer and corrupt business influence, all Class C felonies.  Ader will serve 6 years in the Indiana Department of Correction followed by 8 years of probation.  Ader will also pay $116,000 in restitution to one Pulaski County victim.  As part of his plea agreement, Ader will provide the Secretary of State’s office with information on a co-defendant.

An employee of Ader’s company, Liberty Consulting International, Inc., solicited investors through cold calls with the promise of guaranteed high returns on their investments. Once he piqued a potential investor’s interest over the phone, he gave them instructions on how to wire him the investment money.  Investors never received any returns on their investments and were unable to secure a refund of their money. Ader used money from investors for his personal gain.

“Cold calls are a growing trend for scam artists,” said Secretary of State Connie Lawson. “These predators constantly adapt to take their victims hard earned money in an increasingly bold manner.  I commend my team and Pulaski County Prosecutor Daniel Murphy for bringing Ader to justice.”

The Secretary of State’s office began investigating Ader when a complaint against him was filed with the Securities Division. The investigation found that Ader was barred from the securities industry in any capacity in 1997.  It is a violation of the Indiana Uniform Securities Act to sell securities without being registered with the Secretary of State’s office.

“Investors should always look into their financial professional’s background before agreeing to any transaction,” said Securities Commissioner Alex Glass. “The Secretary of State’s website allows Hoosiers to research their financial professionals with a simple search or you can call the office and we will happily look up records for you. I encourage all Hoosiers to do a little research before making any investments. It could save you a lot of time and money.”

Hoosiers can research securities professionals by calling 317-232-6681 or by looking at the database online at For information on how to avoid becoming a victim of investment fraud visit
