  • Entrance/exit is only permitted between interviews
  • Electronic devices with silent keyboards are permitted
  • Camera equipment set-up (tripod, microphones, etc.) must take place during breaks
  • Microphone cords must be taped down (wireless microphones are permitted)
  • Artificial lighting will not be permitted
  • Questioning of the applicant is reserved for the Commission
  • At the applicant's discretion, press interviews may take place outside room 319

According to the Indiana Constitution and state statute, the seven-member Commission must recruit and select candidates to fill the vacancy on the state's highest court. The Commission considers eligibility and reviews applications. It considers applicants' legal education, writings, reputation in the practice of law, and other pertinent information. During an executive session, the Commission determined one applicant did not meet the eligibility requirements, as defined by the Indiana Constitution, and would not be interviewed. The Commission is also meeting in executive session on March 20.

After the March interviews, a second round of interviews will take place April 17-19. After interviews and deliberations in an executive session, the Commission will publicly vote to send the three most qualified candidates to the Governor who has 60 days to select Indiana's next justice.

Applications and photographs are available online. Attachments, including writing samples and transcripts, are available in the Supreme Court Law Library, State House room 316.
