[r22] Rep. Kubacki supports children in Riley Radiothon
Start Date: 3/14/2013Start Time: 9:00 AM
Entry Description
STATEHOUSE – State Representative Rebecca Kubacki (R-Syracuse) will be participating in the 2nd annual Riley Radiothon benefiting Riley Children’s Hospital on Mar. 15 with the 107.3 WRSW radio station. The radiothon is being held for three days, lasting 12 hours each day from Mar. 13 until Mar. 15 at 7 p.m.

The Riley Children’s Foundation holds four radiothons per year over the airwaves in four different Indiana radio markets. Local radio station WRSW (107.3 FM) is hosting the event in Warsaw. Kosciusko County residents and listeners of the radio station are encouraged 574-268-HOPE to hear life-changing stories of patients and families and donate financial support to benefit Riley Hospital for Children.

“This radiothon makes a considerable difference in the lives of the children at Riley Hospital and their families,” said Rep. Kubacki. “I encourage everyone to reach out and contribute whatever they can to this worthwhile cause. This radiothon gives incredible support to the work that goes on at the hospital and the strength of the kids that are receiving treatment.”

More than 1,000 Kosciusko County children are served by Riley Children’s Hospital each year. Rep. Kubacki, serves as secretary on the Riley Children’s Foundation Board of Governors for the hospital, has made helping Hoosier children and family one of her strongest initiatives during her time as a state representative.

As chair of the Committee on Children, Family and Human Affairs this year, she has authored and co-authored legislation that will work to protect and positively impact the lives of children, such as House Bill 1123 which establishes a commission to monitor and evaluate services programs and laws for at-risk youth, and House Bill 1494 which requires background checks for anyone who comes in contact with children in child care centers. As the 2013 legislative session moves forward through the end of April, Rep. Kubacki continues to work towards providing Hoosier children with a safe, healthy environment to grow up in.

“It’s about the children and helping them in a time when they need it the most,” said Rep. Kubacki. “I’m a mother of two children and I know I would appreciate any aid possible if I had a child in a compromising position with their health.”
