[s39] Sen. Pat Miller’s Legislation Expanding Property-Tax Payment Options Heads to Governor’s Desk

Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (March 26, 2012) – State Sen. Pat Miller’s (R-Indianapolis) legislation giving Hoosiers the option to pay property taxes in installments instead of as a lump sum passed the House of Representatives Monday by a 93-0 vote and is one step closer to becoming law.

Miller said she introduced Senate Bill 275 after residents of her Central Indiana district asked her to establish a state-wide payment plan where taxpayers would have the choice to pay their property taxes in monthly installments.

“This proposal will help lessen the tax payment burden on Hoosier homeowners and enable them to budget in a way that best fits their needs,” Miller said. “Some counties already offer this option to residents, and I would like to extend the benefit of a more flexible payment plan to all Hoosiers.”

SB 275 now goes to the desk of Gov. Mike Pence for approval.
