[DNR] Wildflower programs for kids and adults at Bedford library, April 8
Start Date: 3/25/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 3/25/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description
Indiana’s native wildflowers will be showcased on Monday, April 8, at the Bedford Public Library.

Monroe Lake naturalist Jill Vance will present an afternoon drop-in session for kids and an evening program for adults.

From 3 to 5 p.m., Vance will be in the children’s department. Kids can drop by to learn basic wildflower identification and make a wildflower craft.

At 6 p.m. in the program room, Vance will explore the history, folklore and stories behind wildflower names during a program for adults. The focus will be Indiana’s spring and early summer bloomers, and the program will include tips on how to recognize the featured species.

“When you encounter wildflowers called liverwort, bloodroot, or bishop’s-cap, you know there must be an interesting story behind the name,” Vance said. “The folklore and history can be just as amazing as the flower itself.”

Visitors to both programs can pick up a list of upcoming local wildflower hikes.

The Bedford Public Library is located at 1323 K Street.
