Start Date: 3/4/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 3/4/2013
Entry Description
The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) is pleased to announce Amy Cornell as the new director of ag policy and regulatory affairs. In this role, she will serve as Indiana’s state agriculture regulatory liaison, by assisting agricultural producers with permitting and compliance issues and advocating for regulatory standards that are based in science and will not impede economic development in agriculture.

Cornell will also continue to serve as the executive director of the Indiana Land Resources Council, an advisory body that assists local and state decision-makers with land use tools and policies. The Indiana Land Resources Council is composed of nine appointed representatives from around the state.

“Amy brings a passion for serving Indiana farmers and has been a strong leader on the ISDA team,” said Gina Sheets, Indiana agriculture director. “I look forward to seeing her continue to serve Indiana agriculture now in the role of regulatory liaison.”

Cornell joined ISDA in 2010 as the regulatory affairs program manager where she was responsible for researching and managing regulatory issues and working with local governments on agricultural zoning and land use issues. She came to ISDA after working with Baker & Daniels LLP in Indianapolis as an Associate in the Health Care & Life Sciences Group.

Cornell has a Master’s of Law degree from University of Arkansas’s School of Law, a law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indianapolis and an undergraduate degree from Purdue University. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association.

She lives in Lebanon with her husband Matt.
