Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (March 11, 2013) – State Sen. Jim Smith (R-Charlestown) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
• Anna Hall, from Underwood, attends Scottsburg High School.
• Brittany Miller, from Charlestown, attends Charlestown High School.
• Michaela Gorbett, from Jeffersonville, attends Charlestown High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“It was a pleasure to meet these young Hoosiers from our district and introduce them to the legislative process,” Smith said. “I encourage others to make the Capitol their classroom for a day and learn firsthand how laws are created in this state.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
