Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (March 11, 2013) – State Sen. John Waterman (R-Shelburn) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
• Jake Gilbert, from Worthington, attends Shakamak High School.
• Delaney Kalar, from Jasonville, attends Shakamak High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“I invite all students from my district to visit the Statehouse and serve as a page for the day,” Waterman said. “It’s a great way for young Hoosiers to see their state government at work and experience up-close what they’re learning about in their textbooks.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
To learn how you can register your student to serve as a Senate page, visit www.in.gov/senatepageprogram.
