Daytime Lane Closures This Spring on I-69 to Finalize Construction
INDOT Performs Final Inspections, Identifies Punch List Tasks
VINCENNES, Ind. – Motorists should watch for temporary daytime lane closures on Interstate 69 in southwest Indiana as weather allows this spring.
Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) personnel will be walking all 65 miles of newly opened interstate as part of its process for performing final construction inspections. Contractors will then be completing punch list tasks identified in the inspections before INDOT finalizes and accepts each construction contract.
When encountering a work zone, INDOT urges drivers to slow down and pay extra attention for their safety and the safety of others. For the latest news and information about roadway restrictions and conditions, please visit www.indot.in.gov or www.trafficwise.in.gov .
The new Interstate 69 between Evansville and Indianapolis is widely regarded as a key component to the future economic vitality of southwestern Indiana, and will connect an entire region with improved access to jobs, education and healthcare. I-69 opened to traffic between Evansville and Crane in November of 2012, years ahead of schedule and nearly $80 million under budget.
