Entry Description STATEHOUSE (March 6, 2013) – State Sen. Pete Miller (R-Avon) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages:
• Aaron Beasley, from Pittsboro, attends Covenant Christian High School.
• Devin Courtney, from Pittsboro, attends Brownsburg East Middle School.
• Lucas Engels, from Pittsboro, attends Tri-West Middle School.
• Veronica Hudson, from Amo, attends Cascade Middle School.
• Alina Kelka, from Danville, attends Danville Community High School.
• Maren Maxwell, from Brownsburg, attends Brownsburg East Middle School.
• Riley Van, from Brownsburg, attends East Middle School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“For students interested in learning more about the legislative process, the Senate page program is the perfect way to learn how things happen at the Statehouse,” Miller said. “Pages get to watch proceedings as they happen and learn more about this lively, historic place. I certainly encourage all students to apply.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
