STATEHOUSE (March 6, 2013) – State Sen. Ron Grooms (R-Jeffersonville) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:

• Anna Paxton, from Floyds Knobs, attends Highland Hills Middle School.
• Ashley Cummings, from Jeffersonville, attends Jeffersonville High School.
• Sierra Wise, from Jeffersonville, attends Jeffersonville High School.
• Elizabeth West, from Jeffersonville, attends Jeffersonville High School.
• Gage Griffin, from Greenville, attends Highland Hills Middle School.
• Elizabeth Palmer, from Floyds Knobs, attends Highland Hills Middle School.
• Brennan Zastawny, from Jeffersonville, attends Parkview Middle School.
• Ethan Zastawny, from Jeffersonville, attends Parkview Middle School.
• Webster Walls, from Indianapolis, attends Parkwood Elementary School.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.

“As always, I am eager to have local students visit the Statehouse and learn about the legislative process,” Grooms said. “I hope to see several more students take this opportunity to come to the Capitol and observe how laws are enacted. The hands-on experience helps bring their textbooks to life.”

Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
