[s30] Sen. Schneider Welcomes Local Students to Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (March 4, 2013) – State Sen. Scott Schneider (R-Indianapolis) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages:

• Samuel Acosta, a home school student from Indianapolis.
• Dottie Angelopoulos, from Carmel, attends Clay Middle School.
• Amanda Bishara, from Carmel, attends Carmel High School.
• Alyssa Gardner, from Indianapolis, attends Quiverfull Academy.
• Mona Goggins, from Carmel, attends Clay Middle School.
• Quinn Gordon, from Carmel, attends Carmel High School.
• Cheyenne Herring, from Indianapolis, attends North Central High School.
• Daniel Patel, from Indianapolis, attends Eastwood Middle School.
• Drew Roth, from Carmel, attends Carmel High School.
• Jacob Smith, from Indianapolis, attends North Central High School.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.

“I always enjoy having the opportunity to meet and interact with students from our district when they come to the Statehouse to serve as Senate pages,” Schneider said. “Pages get to witness action on the floor that will impact the future of our state, making this the perfect opportunity to teach students about the legislative process. I encourage all students to apply.”

Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
