Entry Description STATEHOUSE (March 4, 2013) – State Sen. Mike Young (R-Indianapolis) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages:
• Aubrayon Bethea, from Indianapolis, attends Ben Davis High School.
• Adam Cass, from Indianapolis, attends Speedway High School.
• Grace Cass, from Indianapolis, attends Speedway Junior High School.
• Mikaela Eytcheson, from Indianapolis, attends Speedway High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“The Senate page program is the perfect hands-on experience for any student interested in learning more about state government,” Young said. “By witnessing the discussions we have on bills, students become more familiar with the legislative process and better understand what we do at the Statehouse. I really enjoyed speaking with all of my pages, and I encourage more students from the district to apply to the program as the legislative session continues.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
