Entry Description STATEHOUSE (March 4, 2013) – State Sen. Greg Walker (R-Columbus) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages:
• Allie Abney, from Bargersville, attends Franklin Community High School.
• Bailey Bowles, from Martinsville, attends Martinsville High School.
• Kaitlyn Bowles, from Martinsville, attends Bell-East Middle School.
• Mallarie Stookey, from Trafalgar, attends Warsaw Community High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“As Senate pages, students have the opportunity to witness the legislative process firsthand,” Walker said. “Pages are welcomed onto the Senate floor, where they get to see how proposals are discussed and how bills move closer to becoming law. I enjoyed meeting Allie, Bailey, Kaitlyn and Mallarie, and I encourage more students from the district to apply to be pages before the end of this legislative session.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
