Entry Description
Putnam County—On Friday, February 8, Indiana State Police Detectives from the Putnamville arrested Jason Rivers, age 35, of Greencastle, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a Class D felony.
As part of the Federally Funded Child Sexual Predator Program Grant in Putnam County, detectives from the Putnamville Post were conducting compliance checks in Putnam County to insure convicted sex offenders were registering as required by law. During their investigation they determined Rivers, a convicted sex offender, had moved from one residence in Greencastle to another without informing the Greencastle Police Department or Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Rivers was initially residing on Walnut Street and for the last approximately two months; he was residing at residences on Melrose Avenue and Frazier Street.
Rivers was incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail on $20,000 bond.
Under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
