Entry Description
Gary, Lake County-Yesterday, Thursday, February 7th, evening, a semi driver made his own parking spot when he failed to negotiate the curve on the I-65 south bound to I-80 east bound ramp.
Preliminary investigation, by Senior Trooper Brian McCall and Probationary Officer Zachary Beaver, revealed at approximately 8:58 p.m., a 2011 Freightliner pulling a box trailer, driven by Leonard Lee Hall, 29 of Pace, Mississippi, failed to negotiate a curve on the ramp from I-65 south bound to I-80 east bound when Hall looked away for a few seconds while driving.
The Freightliner went off the road, into the grassy area where he remained upright. The semi was owned by Transport America Incorporated out of Fort Wayne and was hauling 40,000 pounds of appliance parts. No load was loss.
Hall was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
The ramp was closed for a short period for towing of the semi.
