Entry Description STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Ron Bacon (R-Chandler) congratulates the North Spencer County School Corporation which has been awarded a grant from the State of Indiana for their teacher evaluation model.
“The North Spencer County School Corporation was selected out of 124 total applicants,” said Rep. Bacon. “The process of selecting which schools were awarded the grants was arduous and multifaceted to ensure the best teachers were recognized. The faculty, staff and students of the entire school corporation should be very proud of themselves for this achievement.”
The North Spencer County School Corporation has been awarded $184,500 of the Indiana Excellence in Performance for Teachers grant. The grant recognizes teachers who have shown outstanding work in the classroom based on an evaluation model that looks at student growth and comprehension. School corporations across Indiana were selected to receive varying proportions of the $10 million grant.
The model used to evaluate the North Spencer County School Corporation is called RISE. The model, developed by the Indiana Teacher Evaluation Cabinet, was used over the course of a year. RISE uses multiple sources of information to paint a fair, accurate, and comprehensive representation of a teacher’s performance.
North Spencer County School Corporation is one of 40 schools in Indiana chosen for their implementation of the RISE model which uses classroom observations and conferences, to provide a clear picture of what teachers do in their classrooms and schools.
“A continued focus on jobs and education will move our state forward,” said Rep. Bacon. “The teachers in our area are of the highest quality, and I am encouraged to see them rewarded for the tireless effort to inspire the future leaders of Indiana.”
