STATEHOUSE (Feb. 4, 2013) – State Sen. Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages in January:
- Riley Frazier, from Indianapolis, attends Heritage Christian School
- Fletcher Born, from Indianapolis, attends Fall Creek Valley Middle School
- Tucker Born, from Indianapolis, attends Lawrence North High School
- Andrew Sparks, from Indianapolis, attends Lawrence North High School
- Clara Tybrandt, from Fishers, attends Fishers High School
- Nicholas Baehl, from Fishers, attends Hamilton Southeastern Junior High School
- Peyton Sanders, from Fishers, attends Fishers Junior High School
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“This program is a great opportunity for students from our district to learn about what goes on in state government,” Merritt said. “It’s convenient and close to home, so I encourage more students to visit and experience a day at the Statehouse.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
