JASPER, IND. (Feb. 26, 2013)The Indiana Department of Child Services announced today Amy Tempel has been appointed local director of the Dubois County office of DCS. In her new role Amy will set goals and objectives for child welfare management helping to ensure children are protected from abuse or neglect. In addition, she’ll oversee a team of eight that includes family case managers, supervisors and clerical staff. She’ll also handle general office operations.

“We’re very pleased Amy will be managing day-to-day operations in our Dubois County office,” said Dave Judkins, DCS’ Deputy Director of Field Operations. “She has spent most of her career as a public servant and her practical job experience working with children as both a family case manager and a supervisor should benefit families in her county for years to come.”

Born in Huntingburg, Indiana, Amy has always lived in southern Indiana. After graduating from Indiana University in Bloomington, she worked as an employment specialist for Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Services in Boonville. In 1997 she joined Indiana State Government, working first as a public assistance case worker and then a family case manager in Warrick County. She later worked in Dubois County and in 2007 was promoted to family case manager supervisor in Perry County.  She has been the Director in Perry County since 2009.

Amy began her new duties February 10.

The Dubois County office of the Indiana Department of Child Services is located at 1045 Wernsing Road in Jasper. To report child abuse or neglect, call the child abuse/neglect hotline:  800.800.5556.
