Entry Description INDIANAPOLIS –the Indiana Senate rejected a proposal monday to expand health care coverage to low wage-earning hoosier families from 2014 through 2016. The amendment to Senate Bill (SB) 551, proposed by State SEnator Karen Tallian (D-portage), would have taken advantage of language in the federal health care law that fully funds the cost of expanding medcaid for the first three years. Under the expansion proposed in Tallian’s amendment, working families of four EARNING LESS THAN $33,000 a year would be eligible for care, covering AN estimated 400,000 more Hoosiers.
SEN. TALLIAN: “The expansion increases that eligibility to a family of four with an income of less than $33,000. These people are the working poor…”
