Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann Names Communications Director

Indianapolis - Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann names Lou Ann Baker as Communications Director. In this role, Baker will oversee communications for the lieutenant governor’s executive office as well as her agencies.

Baker comes to state government with a diverse communications background of more than 20 years in both the private and public sectors. In 2002, she started her own communications company, Baker Public Affairs Group, specializing in sustainability, community collaborations and motor sports. Her company has represented the Dreyer and Reinbold IndyCar Racing team, Racing for Kids and Keramida, Inc.

As a corporate communications leader, Baker served as the vice-president of communications and community affairs for Veolia Water and the public affairs manager for United Water Services. In both these roles, Baker executed a high-level communications strategy with a concentration in government and community affairs.

Baker also brings many years of public sector experience. She worked both as the media director in the Indiana House of Representatives and as a special assistant, focusing on neighborhood communications, to Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith.

“Lou Ann joins our team as a highly skilled and knowledgeable communications expert,” said Lt. Governor Ellspermann. “Her experience in corporate communications, government and as a business owner will bring a well-rounded perspective to a very talented staff.”

Baker is a graduate of Hanover College with Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in biology and communications. She is very passionate about the environment serving on the boards for Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Eagle Creek Park Foundation and Earth Day Indiana. Baker is a graduate of the Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series and served as a member on the communications committee for the 2012 Super Bowl.
