STATEHOUSE (Feb. 4, 2013) – State Sen. Vaneta Becker (R-Evansville) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages in January:
- Colton Colbert, from Evansville, attends Holy Rosary Catholic School
- John Sauls, from Evansville, attends Holy Rosary Catholic School
- Holden Abshier, from Evansville, attends Holy Rosary Catholic School
- Andrew Clark, a homeschooled student from Newburgh
- Avory Haase, from Newburgh, attends Evansville Christian School
- Carley Haase, a homeschooled student from Newburgh
- Emily Clark, a homeschooled student from Newburgh
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“It’s always great to have young people from our district come visit the Statehouse and be part of the legislative process,” Becker said. “The page program provides an excellent opportunity for students to witness Indiana democracy firsthand.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session, which ends April 4 this year.
