STATEHOUSE (Feb. 4, 2013) – State Sen. Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages in January:
- Jacob Parmenter, from Mount Vernon, attends Mount Vernon Junior High School
- Joseph Julian, from Mount Vernon, attends Mount Vernon Junior High School
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“It’s great to see students in our district invested in learning about their state legislature,” Tomes said. “Our page program really affords them the opportunity to bring their studies to life.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
