[ISP] Tipton Man Arrested on Additional Felony Charges
Start Date: 12/18/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 12/18/2013
Entry Description

Tipton County – Recently, a month long criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Tony Frawley resulted in the arrest of Derek R. Hill, 30, Tipton, IN. Hill was arrested at a Tipton County residence and incarcerated in the Howard County Jail. He faces two felony charges for possession of stolen property and fraud.

Frawley started his investigation after an employee of B R and S Mechanical, located in Tipton County, reported that unauthorized charges had been made on a business credit card. Further investigation revealed that Hill had allegedly utilized B R and S Mechanical’s Lowes credit card to make purchases at a Lowes store in Kokomo. Hill purportedly made five transactions totaling over $3,200. Hill was a former employee of B R and S Mechanical. He was not authorized to utilize the company’s credit card.

Yesterday, as part of the continuing investigation, Hill was served two separate Tipton Circuit Court arrest warrants. Each warrant alleged a single charge of theft. Howard County Sheriff’s deputies served Hill the warrants at the Howard County Jail; where he was still being held on the original stolen property and fraud charges.

During the investigation, Detective Frawley purportedly recovered tools valued at approximately $2,100 from Hills’ residence. The tools had been reported stolen from inside a vehicle owned by B R and S Mechanical. Frawley’s investigation also revealed that Hill had allegedly stolen a gas card from inside the vehicle owned by B R and S Mechanical. The card was allegedly used to make numerous unauthorized purchases from August 2013 until October 2013. These alleged crimes led to the issuance of the two arrest warrants.
