[ISP] Two Employees Recognized for Career Milestones

Versailles: This morning two state police employees were recognized for reaching career milestones. Acting Versailles District Commander, First Sergeant Raymond Otter presented Sergeant Mark Helms with his one million mile safe driving award. Sergeant Helms began his career with the Indiana State Police after graduating from the 45th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in December, 1987 where he was assigned to the Seymour District. During his career Sgt. Helms has served as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, a Field Training Officer and Program Coordinator, an instructor in Crash Investigations, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Speed Timing Devices and is also a Crash Reconstructionist having testified in Federal and State courts as an Expert Witness.

Sgt. Helms is a native of Franklin County and a 1979 graduate of Brookville High School. He attended the University of Evansville graduating in 1983 with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to becoming a trooper he served as a police officer with the Columbus Police Department from 1984 to 1987. Sergeant Helms still resides in Columbus and has two grown daughters.

Tammy Cumberworth, a secretary in the Versailles District Criminal Investigations Division was also recognized today for her 20 years of service with the Indiana State Police. Tammy began her career with ISP on December 6, 1993 as a Data Input Operator at the Versailles Post. In 1996 she was promoted to Secretary in the Criminal Investigation Division where she has remained. Tammy is a 1991 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School in Osgood and currently resides in Ripley County with her husband Todd and their six year old daughter, Lexie.
