Entry Description
New Year’s Resolutions

The New Year turns the page on 2012 and welcomes 2013. It begins a fresh start for new opportunities and new experiences; a time to look back at the year prior. It is a time to appreciate all that we accomplished and a time to look forward to continuing to work toward the things that we just did not quite get done.

Every year, like many of you, I start the New Year looking toward new goals or things I would like to change or do better.  I always have the best of intentions, but sometimes I find it hard to accomplish everything.  No matter what your professional or personal goals are for the New Year, I hope you find the right blend of determination and hard work so your every goal will be more attainable.

As I have done for years, I will share some of the resolutions and wishes that come to mind for our community, state and country that I love....

For Noblesville and Hamilton County to continue to work toward making this the greatest place to live, work and raise a family.

For the Statehouse as we prepare for the upcoming session, I encourage the ability to work through the legislative process and all of the bills that will move forward in a bipartisan way; lessening the political divide and strengthening the integrity of the institution. The legislative agenda will be focused on the budget, jobs and education; the issues that Hoosiers have conveyed to be the most important to them. These priorities will continue to advance Indiana’s economic progress and take us from a good state to a state others look to for advice and guidance.

For the 25 new members of the Indiana House, I look forward to them sharing their new ideas and enthusiasm for serving the State of Indiana. My resolution is to make them the best legislators they can be and the future leaders of this state.

For the Governor-elect Mike Pence, I look forward to working with him and his staff as we work through the many issues that will be before us, such as job creation and retention, health care and transportation infrastructure.

For Governor Daniels as he ends his term as the leader of the state and heads to West Lafayette, I know he will have an impact on the university and the entire area of higher education.  Boiler Up President Daniels!

For the country, my wishes are for peace not only in the world, but in our communities, schools and Congress!

For 2013, it is important to remember the bonds that unite us: our friends, family and community. It is in this period of reflection that real growth occurs in all of us. We look for ways to improve and a means to replicate past successes.

I know that we can accomplish many of our goals by working together, respecting each other and doing what is in the best interest of our state.

Best wishes to all for a Happy and Peaceful 2013.
