[DNR] Indiana Master Naturalist program at Fort Harrison SP in January

Entry Description
The public can take classes to become a certified Indiana Master Naturalist starting in January at Fort Harrison State Park.
 
The mission of the Indiana Master Naturalist program is to promote volunteer service at Indiana’s state parks and reservoirs by teaching adult learners about Indiana’s plants, water, soils and wildlife. Participants will be able to use their newly learned skills as volunteer interpretive naturalists.
 
The IMN program at Fort Harrison is sponsored by The Friends of Fort Harrison group and the park’s interpretative naturalist staff.

Classes will be held each month from 6 to 9 p.m. at the visitors center. Each class will focus on a different natural or cultural topic ranging from natural history to conservation to Fort Harrison history.
 
The first class is Jan. 10.

There are two registration options for the Fort Harrison Master Naturalist program. Option A costs $150 and includes all 12 classes, all course-related materials, IMN state accreditation, a 2013 Annual Park Pass and a 2013 Friends of Fort Harrison State Park membership. Option B costs $10 per class and includes all course-related materials and IMN accreditation.
 
Participants must complete 10 of the 12 classes and complete 30 hours of volunteer service in order to become a certified Indiana Master Naturalist.

Registration deadline is Jan. 10. Students must be 18 or older.
