Entry Description
STATEHOUSE – House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced that State Rep. Jud McMillin (R-Brookville) will be serving in three leadership capacities for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. In addition to being the Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Rep. McMillin will serve as the Chairman for the Courts and Criminal Code Committee and as the Vice Chairman for the Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee.
“It is an honor serving in these capacities,” said Rep. McMillin. “I look forward to the opportunities that these positions provide as my colleagues and I work towards addressing issues that are affecting Hoosiers living in Southeast Indiana and across the state.”
In his position as the Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Rep. McMillin will assist Rep. Friend (R-Macy), Majority Floor Leader, as an advisor and counselor for the caucus by working with all of the members on any issues that arise.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma. “We are preparing a new generation of legislative leadership in Indiana, armed to deal with today’s critical problems. Our constituents expect us to work together, and I assure Hoosiers that we will.”
In addition to his three leadership positions, Rep. McMillin will also be serving as a member of the Judiciary Committee as well as the Roads and Transportation Committee.
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
