[DNR] Watch the Quadrantids meteor shower at Paynetown SRA, Jan. 3

Entry Description
Monroe Lake will host a viewing event at the peak of the Quadrantids meteor shower on Thursday, Jan. 3.

The event runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Paynetown State Recreation Area, 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington. Signs will guide visitors to the viewing location at B Campground.

Visitors can gather around a fire, toast s’mores and sip hot cocoa while watching for “shooting stars.”

“The Quadrantids are a lesser known meteor shower,” said Jill Vance, Monroe Lake’s naturalist. “But they are capable of producing up to 40 meteors per hour.”
