Indiana Arts Commission approves five Arts IN Education grant awards
(Indianapolis, Indiana) – The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today the approval of five grant allocations from its Arts IN Education grant program.
During the Commission’s Quarterly Business Meeting, December 7 in Indianapolis, approval was given to funding in classroom projects proposed by the following schools or teaching artists:
Rachel D. Witt, West Lafayette, IN
Northern Wells Community Schools, Ossian, IN
Guy M. Hardy, Bloomington, IN
Peru Community Schools Corporation, Peru, IN
Monika Herzig, Bloomington, IN
This marked the first time teaching artists were also eligible to submit project proposals.
All funded projects must take place between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013.
Schools and teaching artists could request funding up to $3,000, and all grants require dollar for dollar match with school funds, contributed funds, in-kind donations, or services. Funding may not replace or supplant existing resources. Project activities must take place during the scheduled school day and may not fund afterschool or summer activities.
The Arts IN Education program is funded by revenue generated from Indiana’s Celebrate the Arts license plate. Each purchase or renewal of the license plate results in a $25 donation to the Indiana Cultural Trust Fund. Plate revenue is invested by the state, and interest income is drawn annually for Arts IN Education grants.
The Arts IN Education grant program is open to any Indiana pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public, private, parochial, or charter school. Arts IN Education grant information and guidelines can be found online at: www.in.gov/arts/artsineducation.htm .
The Indiana Arts Commission is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, every day, for everyone in Indiana.
