US 231 Project will close a section of Lindberg Road

Contractor plans to close roadway on Tuesday

 

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces Lindberg Road will close on or after Tuesday, September 4.  Lindberg Road will close between Robin Hood Lane and McCormick Road.  The contractor will be reconstructing Lindberg Road and improving the drainage with the construction of ditches for the new intersection with US 231.  The roadway is scheduled to reopen by the first of December.  The detour follows Klondike Road to US 52 to Northwestern Ave.

 

This $45.6 million Major Moves project will relocate US 231.  The US 231 Bypass will begin just north of the Wabash River and continue east of the Purdue University Airport, then northwest to State Road 26 near its intersection with Newman Road.  The bypass will connect with US 52 just west of McCormick Road.  Construction began in the spring of last year.  The 5.3 miles of US 231 is scheduled to be open to traffic by the end of September in 2013.
