Start Date: 11/10/2011
End Date: 11/10/2011
Entry Description

McAfee to Hand Out Backpacks through Colts “Books for Youth” Initiative

WHAT:   On Wednesday, November 9, 2011, the Indianapolis Colts are joining with Cargo Services to give 40 pre-selected Indiana foster youth a very special experience. Colts Punter Pat McAfee will help distribute backpacks filled with 25 books to each child as a part of the “Books for Youth” program, which was started by the Colts and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) in 2006. Since 2009, Cargo Services has served as the title sponsor of the program.

After the youngsters receive their backpack from McAfee, they will have the opportunity to meet Colts Cheerleaders, and enjoy snacks, compliments of Cargo Services. Toward the end of the evening, the Colts mascot, Blue, is also going to provide a special performance of his P.R.I.D.E program for the children and their families. This interactive and educational program is typically only done in elementary schools during the season.

The 40 foster youth and their families are scheduled to arrive at Cargo Services’ headquarters, located at 7640 Miles Drive in Indianapolis, Ind. at 6:00 p.m.

While Wednesday’s event is not open to the public, the Colts, DCS and Cargo Services are providing individuals with a unique way to support “Books for Youth.” Through the “Buy One, Donate One” initiative, fans can visit any Colts Pro Shop location orwww.coltsproshop.com/Backpack/ and purchase a special edition backpack featuring Blue. For each backpack that’s purchased the Colts will donate one filled with books to an Indiana foster child.
