[INDOT - Northeast] Overnight Lane Restrictions on I-69 and I-469 Begin October 15
Start Date: 10/15/2013Start Time: 9:00 PM
End Date: 11/1/2013End Time: 6:00 AM
Entry Description
ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces that beginning tonight, Tuesday night, October 15, at 9 p.m., I-69 and I-469 will have intermittent overnight lane restrictions due to signage work that will designate the rerouting of US 24 around the north side of Fort Wayne using I-69 and I-469. The sign work will take place during nighttime hours, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., with restrictions lifting during the day.

Currently, eastbound US 24 from the west side of Fort Wayne routes around the south side of Fort Wayne using I-69 southbound from Exit 302 to the south junction of I-469, then north on I-469 to Exit 21. Similarly, westbound US 24 from the New Haven area routes around the south side of Fort Wayne using I-469 southbound from Exit 21 to the south junction of I-69, then north on I-69 to Exit 302.

Once the rerouting is complete, eastbound US 24 traffic from the west side of Fort Wayne will follow I-69 north from Exit 302 to the north junction of I-469, then south on I-469 to Exit 21. Similarly, westbound US 24 traffic from the New Haven area will follow I-469 northbound from Exit 21 to the north junction of I-69, then south on I-69 to Exit 302.

During the overnight hours, motorists should be aware of arrowboards and cones or barrels directing traffic, as well as merging construction traffic and slow-moving equipment. All work is weather permitting. The restrictions and rerouting signage work are expected to be complete by early November.

The rerouting of US 24 around the north side of Fort Wayne will save motorists almost 4 miles over the current route.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, visit www.in.gov/indot. You can find traffic restriction information at www.trafficwise.IN.gov. Contact the Fort Wayne District toll-free at 866-227-3555.
