Vigo County—After a nearly two week investigation by the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section, a local Terre Haute pharmacist was arrested on preliminary criminal charges for one count of Theft, D felony and one count of Dealing in Controlled Substance, B felony. The arrest took place last evening in Terre Haute.

Arrested:  John T. Webb, age 68, of Bloomfield, Indiana
Incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail, no bond
Scheduled for first court appearance on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in Vigo County Court Division 1.

In the latter part of October, the owners of JR Pharmacy contacted the Indiana State Police with concerns of possible criminal activity by one of the company pharmacists, John T. Webb. After nearly two-weeks of investigation, Mr. Webb is alleged to have taken nearly $1100 in cash and various pharmaceutical drugs. Webb was allegedly providing the cash and drugs to a female acquaintance (in return for sexual favors), family members, customers and for his own use. The alleged thefts occurred at the JR Pharmacy location at 2902 Poplar Street, in Terre Haute.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information will be released at this time. Additional charges are possible.

The investigation is being conducted by ISP Drug Enforcement Detective Deanna Jones. Assisting was the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office.

Under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
