{INDOT} Intermittent I-69 Lane Restrictions Friday and Saturday Nights, November 30 and December 1
Start Date: 11/29/2012 All Day
End Date: 11/29/2012
Entry Description
ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces intermittent nighttime lane restrictions on I-69 just north of Exit 316, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., on Friday night, November 30, and Saturday night, December 1.

The contractor will be applying striping in the northbound and southbound lanes. The lane shift that has been in place during the past several months will be removed, and the new striping will designate the permanent lane configuration. Message boards will alert drivers in each direction about the upcoming restrictions. Arrow boards and barrels will direct traffic. All lane restrictions are currently expected to take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, weather permitting.

INDOT reminds drivers that the Union Chapel Road interchange area is a construction zone, with a speed limit of 55 mph strictly enforced on I-69 starting at approximately the I-469 interchange from the south (Exit 315) and at approximately mile marker 319 from the north. Temporary speed limits of 45 mph are imposed when lights are flashing. Please use caution and consider worker safety when driving through any construction zone. The penalties for speeding and driving recklessly in a work zone include fines of up to $1,000 for speeding in a work zone and up to $5,000 for reckless or aggressive driving in a work zone. Drivers who injure or kill a highway worker may find themselves paying a $10,000 fine or serving up to eight years behind bars.
