Rep. Bill Friend elected as House Majority Floor Leader
STATEHOUSE - Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy) was elected by the Indiana House of Representatives Majority Caucus to the leadership role of Floor Leader yesterday.
“I am honored to be recognized by the caucus and elected to this position. I will continue to serve in a manner that best represents my community and the needs of our great state,” said. Rep. Friend.
Rep. Friend was first elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1992 and has served as the Republican Floor Leader since 2002.
“Indiana is on the cusp of unheralded growth. Our potential to play a bigger role in life sciences, insurance, agriculture and computing technology is exciting,” said Rep. Friend. “Indiana is well-positioned today for tomorrow’s needs because of our fiscal prudence and focus on private sector job creation. We must continue to look at creative and innovative ways to further develop measures to attract the brightest minds to our state.”
The House Floor Majority Leader serves as an advisor and counselor for the caucus by working with all of the members on any issues that arise. Rep. Friend’s leadership role also helps the Speaker of the House address daily matters.
