SHELBYVILLE, Ind.—The Indiana Department of Child Services announced today Desirae Moore has been appointed local office director of the Shelby Co. office of DCS. In her new role Desirae will set goals and objectives for child welfare management helping to ensure children are protected from abuse or neglect. In addition, she’ll oversee a team of 12 that includes family case managers, supervisors and clerical staff. She’ll also handle general office operations.
“We’re delighted Desirae will be managing day-to-day operations in Shelby County,” said Dave Judkins, DCS’ Deputy Director of Field Operations. “Her practical experience working with abused and neglected children as well as her supervisory know-how will help Desirae to be a true leader and serve her county well.”
A life-long Indiana resident, Desirae was born and spent her childhood in Greensburg in neighboring Decatur Co. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis.
Desirae began her child services career in Greensburg working for Developmental Services, Inc. She took a job as a family case manager for the Decatur Co. office of DCS in 2006 and then moved on to be a family case manager supervisor in Shelby Co. in 2010, where she remained until her appointment to director.
Desirae began her new duties in Shelby Co. in September.
