[ISP] Drunk Semi Driver Rolls Semi Over
Start Date: 10/21/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 10/21/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

Lake County-A drunk semi driver rolled his semi over early this morning closing all lanes of I-65 south bound down for over 2 ½ hours.

Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Glen Fifield revealed that at approximately 12:30 a.m., this Monday, October 21, 2013, morning a 2014 Volvo semi pulling a box trailer driven by Devon L. House, 28 of Casselberry, Florida, was south bound on I-65 at the 242 mile marker (this is two miles north of the Lowell exit) in the left lane when he went off the road to the left. House over corrected, lost control of the semi and it rolled over onto the passenger side, hitting an informational sign.

The semi when leaving the road hit and sprayed newly laid rocks, just off the inner shoulder, all over both lanes of south bound I-65; the semi upon rolling over came to rest across both lanes blocking south bound traffic.

House was taken to South Lake Methodist Hospital where he tested positive for alcohol (.27% B.A.C.).

House was not injured and taken to Lake County Jail where he was charged with Operating While Intoxicated.

The semi owned by A.F. Systems out of Bensenville, Illinois was loaded with general freight. No load was lost. There was also a female passenger inside the semi who was also not injured.

All lanes south bound were diverted off at Crown Point until 3:00 a.m. for up-righting the semi and trailer and street sweeping the interstate for the sprayed gravel/rock.
