[ISDH]State Terminates Vaccine Agreement with Health Center Following Violation
Start Date: 10/18/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 10/18/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana State Department of Health will no longer provide publicly funded vaccines to the Madison County Community Health Center (MCCHC) after terminating their Vaccines for Children (VFC) program agreement earlier this month. The termination came after a site visit by the State Health Department confirmed that MCCHC administered publicly funded vaccines to children with insurance, violating the state’s requirements for proper eligibility screening and vaccine administration.

The following locations will no longer provide publicly funded vaccines:

·         North Madison County Community Health Center

1518 Main St, Elwood, IN 46036

·         Madison County Community Health Center

1547 Ohio Ave, Anderson, IN 46016

Publicly funded vaccines remain available at several locations in Madison County. For a complete listing of these locations, visit https://chirp.in.gov/vfcmap.jsp.

The State Health Department has also informed the MCCHC it will not be renewing a previous $224,800 annual grant agreement due to recent events in which the confidence of the MCCHC leadership, operations and services has been called into question. A new grant agreement may be possible if MCCHC implements a remediation plan for vaccine administration and works with a consultant on licensure, credentialing and practice oversight, as well as meeting other conditions outlined by the State Health Department.
